And that's just the tip of the iceberg. You are EXTREMELY narrow minded to think all of the cost in a product is the materials and labor. It SHOCKS me that people are so dense. If everyone was a small business owner for 6 months they'd learn so much. You forget things like initial R&D, product support (sitting on the phone for hours a week talking with people about it), quality labor, quality materials, etc. Sure, after a certain amount of time the money is recouped but it is then and ONLY then that profits start to come in. If you lower the price to just above manufacturing costs, it is not worth the hassles of stocking, shipping, customer support, etc. So how do these other places do it so cheap and still turn a profit? They didn't have to pay for ANY of that initial stuff as they often use inferior materials, out of country labor and/or steal an existing idea and have no R&D. And then of course they flood the market and make pennies on the sales as they overproduce it. Soon the quality makers step out to leave the shit products to stay and then you have only one option. Remember, this is NOT specifically about the god damned pipes people. All of what I said above doesn't necessarily apply to them. Stop using them as an example and realize this goes deeper and will affect other things to come. :2 SS y-pipes, 2 SS-2.5" sections of bent pipe, 2 more flanges for mid-pipes, does not take more than 1 1/2 hours of work, and more than $80 dollars in parts. You cannot poossibly tell me that its fair to charge 420 dollars for an hour and a half of labor on downpipes. :
